Myall Park Open Day (2009)

To commemorate the anniversary of Myall Park Botanic Garden, Clocked Out teamed up with Stephen Leek, The Australian Voices, and Jan Baker-Finch to present works responding to the natural environment. Leek conducted a workshop with members of the community culminating in group performance of his work "Sing, Cicada." Erik Griswold created a new work for choir, "Grevilleas of Myall Park" which looked to the infinite variety of colors and shapes of the grevilleas as its starting point. Vanessa Tomlinson and Jan Baker-Finch improvised in the landscape, using the natural materials on hand.

The day culminated in performances by Clocked Out and TAV. Under a rustic canopy, the musicians braved strong winds to cap off a memorable celebration of music, nature, and community.

"How fitting it was to have the garden founder David Gordon's passion for Australian native flora celebrated through sumptuous textures of the Griswold sound palette and choral timbres of The Australian Voices." - Jocelyn Wolfe, Resonate Magazine
