Clocked Out Duo with David Chesworth

In their first trio collaboration, David Chesworth (Melbourne) and Clocked Out Duo (Brisbane) combine modified field recordings, found objects, keyboards and percussion. Here they gradually strip back textures and rhythms of everyday life to reveal obscure presences lurking within. Live mixing, intricate cross-rhythms, and ritualistic improvisations uncloak the spirit world of the Other.

David Chesworth is known by some for his early work with seminal post-punk experimental group Essendon Airport and his 1978 Lo-fi album 50 Synthesizer Greats. He is currently director of the Aria award-winning David Chesworth Ensemble which performs in Australia and internationally. David has also received several contemporary opera commissions from Chamber Made Opera and Opera Australia for works that include the acclaimed Recital and recently, Cosmonaut.

Clocked Out Duo use traditional and modified instruments alongside a bewildering array of toys, found objects, junk and sound sculptures to create carefully designed sonic experiences. Their style embraces a wide variety of influences from experimental, jazz and world music sources. Equally at home in major concert halls and intimate clubs, the Brisbane-based duo has toured in Australia, New Zealand, Asia, the U.S., and Europe, and released three critically acclaimed CDs.
