Piano and percussion become sculptural installation in two new works by Clocked Out Duo. Erik Griswold
and Vanessa Tomlinson use bowls, bottles, tiles, recycled materials, grand piano and toy instruments to
create intricate sound textures that pay homage to two of their musical heroes: Terry Riley and Morton
Feldman, both masters of intricate pattern and expanded space.

"After the kingfisher's wing
Has answered light to light, and is silent, the light is still
At the still point of the turning world." - T.S. Eliot (from "Burnt Norton")
The mystical imagery of T.S. Eliot's Four Quartets is the inspiration for composer Erik Griswold's
major new work "After the kingfisher's wing," a labyrinth of intricate textures, mind bending polyrhythms,
still points interrupted by sudden bursts of energy. Featuring Janet McKay - flute, Anthony Burr - clarinet,
Graeme Jennings - violin, Liam Viney - piano, and Vanessa Tomlinson - percussion.
The Trilling Wire
Music of the Unexpected
Nov 26 - Dec 4 - Judith Wright Centre of Contemporary Arts
Music of the Unexpected is an impulsive adventure story with a
difference. It is surprising, bewildering and unpredictable. Without
warning, as if from nowhere, astonishing things happen. It's an aural
and visual rollercoaster.

Brisbane Powerhouse "Powerkidz"
Clocked Out invites you to explore the sounds of everyday, as
we transform ordinary objects into an extraordinary Dream Percussion Orchestra. Come and see a pendulum swinging
across the stage, pouring rice into ceramic bowls as it whizzes from side to side. Create sounds and wave patterns with
whipping ropes. Discover the bending tones of Chinese gongs dipping in and out of water, or have a jam on a kitchen
percussion kit! Dream Percussion is created by Clocked Out's Vanessa Tomlinson and Erik Griswold in collaboration with
designer Sulja Nezovic, with generous support from Brisbane City Council and Arts Queensland.
